Biodiesel Basics #16: New Additive Lowers Biodiesel Cloud Point

Categories: General Info

Biodiesel is a renewable fuel made right here in Wisconsin. New research has demonstrated ways to improve biodiesel performance in colder climates. Here are some facts:

  • The cloud point is the temperature at which the liquid begins to revert back to a more soluble state.
  • The additive lowers the cloud point for tallow-based biodiesel and biodiesel blends from 50 degrees to 21 degrees Fahrenheit, which increases the potential for using biodiesel made from tallow in colder climates.
