Energy Independence Guide Will Help Grow Wisconsin’s Bio Industry
Contact: Joshua Morby - 414.344.1733MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Bio Industry Alliance (WBIA) is proud to be a partner with Wisconsin’s Office of Energy Independence as they unveiled the first edition of the Wisconsin Guide to Building Biofuels Facilities.
The guide is available for download in the blog section of the WBIA website.
“With the help of a very supportive Governor, the Office of Energy Independence, and the WBIA, the Bio Industry in Wisconsin is growing rapidly,” said Joshua Morby, Executive Director of the WBIA. “This guide is a great resource to have in attracting new bio fuel facilities in the state, and continuing the growth of this developing industry.”
As this industry grows, the importance of the WBIA’s role continues to grow as well.
“Educating consumers, lawmakers, and opinion leaders is essential as we look to create new markets for the increased production of bio fuels in Wisconsin,” said Morby. “Increasing production of bio fuels in Wisconsin is great, but we need to increase consumption as well.”
The guide provides potential bio fuels producers with a list of the permits and state agency contacts necessary to build a bio fuel facility in Wisconsin, in addition to relevant state regulations.
Currently, there are six ethanol plants and one bio diesel plant that are in production in the state. Dozens more are in the planning or construction phases of development.
The Wisconsin Bio Industry Alliance is a diverse group of businesses, environmental groups, and statewide and local organizations that have come together to build both public and legislative awareness of the Bio Industry in Wisconsin.
