MILWAUKEE – Founding members of the Wisconsin Bio Industry Alliance
(WBIA) met today with US Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, as well as
Wisconsin Senators Russ Feingold and Herb Kohl, to discuss developments in
Wisconsin’s ethanol industry and ways to grow the industry in the future.
Vilsack, along with Transportation Secretary Ray La Hood and Governor
Doyle, held a town hall meeting today in La Crosse to do talk about ways the US
Department of Agriculture and other agencies can help assist rural areas of the
country.
John Didion, CEO of Didion Milling and a member of the executive
committee of the WBIA, met with Sec. Vilsack to discuss the company’s
involvement in the USAID program and its ethanol production. Through USAID, Didion has provided
meals for 40 million starving families throughout Asia and Africa in the last
year alone.
Meanwhile, Bob Sather, President of the WBIA and a board member of Ace
Ethanol in Stanley, met with Senators Kohl and Feingold on Capitol Hill today
to discuss legislation pertaining to the ethanol industry.
“The WBIA has been actively involved in promoting the ethanol industry
and its benefits both locally and federally,” said Joshua Morby, Executive
Director of the WBIA. “Today’s
meetings should go a long way in ensuring continued support on a national level
for Wisconsin’s Bio Industry.”
